The Center for Therapeutic Massage and Athletics was founded in 1987 by William Ronald McKnight and grew as a clinical office with locations in Danbury, Norwalk and Bethel, CT. In 1990, Ron became involved with elite athletes in the Goodwill Games and then the US Wrestling Team until their subsequent move to Salt Lake City. Ron continued to be recognized for working with and for the Athletes to the Olympics in Barcelona Spain, Atlanta,Georgia and Athens, Greece. During this time, Ron found that no standards in palpation exist in western medicine. He began developing theories of how to assess and subsequently prevent repetitive injury through a massage palpation protocol. Ron later became active with the American Massage Therapy Association as a board member to participate in discussions on educational standards. Through the development of a palpation protocol and a testing mannequin called the “Ron Pal”, Ron’s endeavor is to create more effective and accurate assessments of repetitive injuries, which happen over time through education and testing. |
